Jill Stuart Eyeshadow Palette! (03 – Brocade Gold) And a little about Popteen & Popsister

I’M BACK BABE!

This time, I’m armed with photoshop (and the obvious lack of aptitude in it) and have been trying to edit all of my images one by one. I’m so sorry about my watermark looking all funky now dear. OTL I’m going to keep working at photoshop to make sure my images look better okay? XD

Today, I’ll be talking about Jill Stuart’s eyeshadow quad in 03, Brocade Gold, that I’ve been using for the past month ♥. Bought this piece at the same time as my cream eyeshadow from Shinjuku’s Lumine!

Popsister’s Yui Kanno and Popteen’s Kumicky both use this palette too so I’m really happy that I bought it.

-laughing- Yes, I’m obsessed with the both of them but I have to say that I like Yui a lot better. :X She just has this more mature look that’s not overly cute. Her recent move to Popsister has been questionable though, seeing that Popteen has tried to replace her and a few other models with rather… Ordinary girls.

There is one particular model, Caroline who’s only 13 this year (She’s a 1997 baby) who does not fit in with rest of the girls, in my opinion. She looks completely caucasian and lack the “Japanese girl” factor that I’ve come to appreciate about Popteen and it’s predecessor, Cawaii.

I wonder if they’re trying to pull a Lena (from Vivi) but not quite making it. I’m not even going to talk about Hikari who look more like a Kera model than a Popteen or an EGG girl.

I wonder who made the decision of moving Yui… I really think they should have left Popteen as it was because now… The content’s quality has gone down in terms of style and Popsister’s content really isn’t speaking to me at all. I’m going to sit it through and see how the next few issues go before truly dismissing it.

The latest issue was a complete disappointment and I couldn’t quite figure out where the inspiration for Tsubasa’s hair came from. :X

-laughing- don’t worry dear~ I’m not going to turn this into a session on Popteen and Popsister so on to the palette proper!

Yup, this is Brocade Gold and boy does it live up to its name…

The cover of the palette is just gorgeous (as expected), but it does feel a little bit cheap because it’s just light plastic. I’m really scared of dropping the palette, I think I’d just cry. It also has nice scallopy edges that goes all around it and the word Jill Stuart is also at the bottom right of the palette when you open it.

When I opened the palette, I was greeted with a gorgeous smell that was similar to that of the cream eyeshadow so I was really pleased with that. XD Most other palettes don’t come scented so if you’re very particular with scents, do take note of this!

The palette comes with a dual tipped sponge that has brand name on it too!

The palette comes with four colours, light pink, cream, light brown and dark brown.

Of the four colours, I only use the last two which makes me wonder if it’s worth the price I paid. It’s very strange that they would have pink in a palette actually… Cream I can understand if they were thinking about highlighting but pink feels a little bit odd… Perhaps I’ll find a use for it soon! =D

And yes, that’s right, it does contain a crazy amount of glitter that is prone to fall outs if I don’t tap it before applying it… But then again, using the cream eyeshadow really helps with that… I kind of think my cream shadow acts very much like a primer. :X The product stays on pretty well!

The shadow colours are GORGEOUS for a neutral look… Look here~

My iPhone camera isn’t brilliant but if you look closely, you should be able to see a gradient from the right to the left! 😀 I LOVE this palette because it’s so easy to handle…

✔ Product Quality: 9.9/10 [Same situation with the cream eyeshadow... A little too much glitter]
✔ Staying Power: 9/10 [I didn’t experience any trouble with my cream shadow as a base!]
✔ Scent: 9/10 [Same as the cream shadow!]
✔ Packaging: 7/10 [I took a point off because it felt a little bit cheap…]

Verdict:
It’s a gorgeously easy palette with great packaging and great product… But gosh, tone down on the glitter, Jill Stuart! >_<
