[[ADV]] ♡ Liese Hair Cocktail (Light) + Wave Up Foam (01) REVIEWS ♡

Posted in Liese by Jae on November 5, 2010

I’m back and I’ve got two reviews on two… Hair products. Yes, highly unusual for me to delve into the realm of hair but -laughing- Hey, it’s was a great experience for me, so here we go!

Please note that today’s post is extremely image heavy!

*** Products in this post were sponsored by THE SAMPLE STORE but does not affect the integrity of the review. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions :)***

The lovely people from The Sample Store recently sent me some products to review. The box arrived via courier and I must say that this left me really impressed because most companies would just send it via post and leave it as that for you to pick up from your post box.

I’m really happy that they made the extra effort to send it in such a manner 🙂

Back to the review now, today’s all about Liese and their latest range of products.

-laughing- I know right, the name of the brand is so cute – I usually say “Lee-say” but the official pronounciation is “Lee-zay“.

Before I begin, I have some extra notes about hair and the condition of my own locks [No, these are not from Liese 🙂]

The hair we have is not living – It actually is dead keratin so when we subject it to chemical treatments such as dye-ing and bleaching, or when we apply heat to it, we stress our hair out quite a bit.

In my case, yes, it is quite stressed because although I try to balance my sleep patterns and limit how often I use the hair dryer, I do get home quite late on somedays and my assignment due dates over the past few weeks have sent me working into the wee hours so needless to say, my hair’s in quite a bad shape.

Throughout this review, please keep in mind here that:
1) my hair has been coloured twice before
2) It hasn’t undergone any hair treatments since about 5 months ago
3) It has not been coloured in the past month

Available at all Watsons, Guardian and selected supermarkets, the products I’m reviewing today are their Hair Cocktail (Light) and their Wave Up Foam (01).

First up, their Hair Cocktail (15.90 SGD for 120ML).

There are two versions of this cocktail, one’s lighter and the other’s more intensive.

The first thing that struck me about this product is its gorgeous smell. I’m very particular about the smell of my hair so when I realized that this cocktail smells like peaches, I was already half sold.

I have to say though, that the concept is rather… Strange? Because it works like an emulsion of sort with the top layer being the anti-frizz oil and the bottom being the nourishing water. I have no idea what the purpose of separating the product into two serves but I suppose this was to add to the novelty of using it.

I still can’t quite wrap my head around how water can be all that “nourishing” though, seeing that the word ‘water’ was used. Perhaps this one was fortified with some other things but let’s not dwell on names.

The back of the product showed the ingredient’s list, official description and the directions.

We’re supposed to shake the bottle before applying it to our hair and that pretty much sums it all up – pretty easy, if you’d ask me.

Make sure you remember to shake the product before using it.

After some shaking, it should look like this:

Now, in spite of my earlier comment about how strange it is for me to have to shake a hair product before using it, I have to say that it doesn’t take very much effort to mix everything up (Quite unlike my Take The Day Off) so even if you’re in a rush it’d be a cinch.

And about the exact amount of product you’re gonna need:

Not very much at all, if you’d ask me.

I measured my hair to be about 62.5cm so if your hair’s shorter than mine, you’d probably need even lesser product to go along. The company actually recommends that you build on the amount of product that you use to prevent wastage – Hmm.

Just pour the product out onto your hand and rub it into your hair and if you applied the right amount, you probably won’t have trouble with weighed down hair because the formula is really light and it dries really quickly, leaving your hair smelling like peaches.

I have to say though, that the smell does wear off in a span of about 10 minutes, regardless of the weather. I’ve been using it all week and I’ve tried applying it with the air-con on and off – made no difference, it still stayed on for about 10-15 minutes before completely disappearing.

As for the effect? Well, I’ll be very honest here and say that because I get my hair cut quite regularly this test can only give you a rouge gauge on how it works on average hair.

This is what my hair looked like before applying the product:

If I had to rate my hair before I applied the Hair Cocktail:
♡ Smoothness: 3.5/5 (I had some kinks in my hair that I had to work my fingers through)
♡ Softness: 3.5/5 (When I scrunched my hair in my hand, it was soft enough)
♡ Shine: 3.5/5 (Not very shiny because it’s been chemically treated before)

Just average. But after using the Hair Cocktail:

You probably won’t be able to really notice the difference from the pictures because the real difference lies in the feel of my hair after the product was applied.

I wouldn’t say that the change was drastic but I did notice some moderate improvement:
Smoothness: 4.2/5 (Much better and I could feel my fingers sliding through relatively smoothly)
Softness: 3.5/5 (Still the same, unfortunately)
Shine: 4/5 (Some improvement in shine)
♡ *Smell: 5/5 (Definitely a winner)

Yes, there’s that added factor of the smell. It scored full marks with me because it really is a wonderfully fruity scent.

Would I continue to use it?
If only for the scent, most definitely because smelling it somehow makes me happy. -laughing-

I know, it doesn’t sound very logical but it really does make me smile!

The Wave Up Foam (12.90 SGD for 150ML) in 01.

-laughing- You’re going to notice that the review for this product is significantly shorter than the other.

This product has two sisters – 02 and 03. 01’s got the lightest hold so it’s not meant for heavy duty curls.

It also comes in two sizes so I made a trip down to Watsons to check it out. -laughing- Yes, I clearly did my homework.

Its absolutely adorable and totally fits in my hand – half of me actually paused at that moment and wished that they’d sent me the smaller can instead.

The foam is touted to help revive dead curls but… I have to say that I don’t usually style my hair , so I actually had to curl my hair for the following image. -laughing-

Did it hold up? It sort of held for the picture below but by the end of the day, my curls were pretty much gone. -laughing- Then again, my hair doesn’t hold curls very well and I didn’t follow the recommended amount so I’m not about to blame it on this product.

Was it sticky? Not as sticky as I thought it would be but I still had to wash my hands after using it cause I could feel the residue. It’s not exactly a good rush product because you have to control how much you squeeze from the can.

Does it smell funny? It doesn’t really smell off but it definitely had the typical aerosol hair product smell.

It does also take some time to dry although I didn’t use the recommended three dollops. Each time, I used only one because my hair already felt overloaded with the product. I tried the product twice within the week, once on a rainy day and once not both times yielded the same result with regards to the drying time.

It felt… Heavy while it dried cause it was quite wet – I didn’t expect that at all so mmm.

Would I recommend it?
Honey, I don’t usually curl my hair so… I don’t quite have much of a use for this. Even if I did curl my hair… In terms of the holding power and the amount of time it took for the product to dry, I might want to give 02 or 03 a shot but as for 01… Mmm.. Not so much.

Ah, and oh yes, these two aren’t the only ones within the Liese range so do drop by Watsons and Guardian to check the brand out. 🙂 Who knows, you might find something that suits you better there 🙂

-laughing- Measuring tape BB! ♡ Trust me, now that I think about it, I think it must have looked quite funny. XD

BONES~~~~ XD Speaking of which, there’s this TV series called Bones too you, know! XD

XD The orange bottle is the richer one dearie~~~! You should so get a whiff of the formula, girl, it’s sooo good!

        yeap! really cute hearing “62.5cm”.
can you imagine? so exact! “0.5” hahahaha!

oh yeah! i heard of it before.. didn’t watch it. no time, school’s a joy-kill!
beside… what fun is it to see fellow bones pracing around in front of my tv eh? XD

oh yes! i smelt it before!
i wanted to buy it but.. i didn’t know which was the richer formula i should get for coloured hair, since dye jobs always dry out our hair.. and everytime i went, i don’t see a nearby SA to help me out. so didn’t grab it.

have you tried lucido-l’s hyaluronic hair treatment spray & essence too? i heard it’s good!

      • Jae said, on November 6, 2010 at 5:11 pm

        -laughing away-
And HAHAHA! When you do get the time, check it out kay~~~

Ah! Hmmm… Intensive treatment would be the orange bottle, sweety~ Let me know how you go with that one kay?
Hopefully it’ll smell just as good :3 Hehe!

I haven’t tried the Lucido-l’s treatment range but I’ve tried their waxes~ 😀 Hmm… They work pretty well too :3

      • crystal said, on November 7, 2010 at 11:28 am

actually… now that i think about it.
i’m not sure if i should get the orange or green one.
coz i’d let my hair grow out all the spoilt ends and chopping off like half my hair back some time ago before colouring it in… august.
so it’s not that damaged but of coz.. it’s the ends that’s getting drier now.

should i use liese’s orange or green bottle or essentials?
        *pulls hair out* oh wait… i don’t have hair… -_-” fml.

      • Jae said, on November 8, 2010 at 9:56 am

Hmm… If your hair isn’t extremely damaged… I think the green one might be sufficient dear!
And I haven’t tried the essentials treatment before so meh, I’m not exactly sure about effective it is…

      • crystal said, on November 8, 2010 at 1:25 pm

        hehe~ XD
