Kracie Epilat Cute Line Hair Removing Cream (Treatment Type) [[REVIEW]]

Posted in Kracie by Jae on January 19, 2011

This is a break from all my blush and Canmake and Melliesh post today!

I’m really excited to tell you about it because I’ve been wanting to do this for a really long time but haven’t gotten round to buying it because I always forgot to OTL

-laughing- I finally remembered yesterday so today, I’m here to talk to you about Kracie’s Epilat Cute Line Hair Removing Cream (Treatment Type).

[WARNING: THIS CREAM REVIEWED TODAY CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PART OF YOUR BODY ASIDE FROM THE ARMS AND LEGSPLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS ON THE PUBIC REGION OR ON ONE’S FACE.]

Nope, this isn’t a sponsored review or anything!

Notice that I didn’t say ‘epilation cream’? This is because epilation is the removal of the entire hair + roots off the skindepilation on the other hand, is simply the removal of hair above the skin. So the root still stays in.

Now, depilation cream basically is a not-so-painful way to remove hair off the larger parts of your body. For example, your arms, legs and maybe even bikini line.

[WARNING: THIS CREAM REVIEWED TODAY CANNOT BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PART OF YOUR BODY ASIDE FOR YOUR ARMS AND LEGS. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS ON THE PUBIC REGION OR ON ONE’S FACE.]

It’s made up of harsh chemicals that break down the bonds in your hair so that it just disintegrates and becomes easy to just wipe off with a tissue.

It’s pretty ‘Kracie’, isn’t it? Harty-har. The brand name’s Kracie, which kind of sounds like ‘crazy’, don’t you think? Ah, these Japanese brands. -laughing- The product’s made in Japan, by the way!

There are two types of hair removing cream, one is the treatment type (this one) and the other is the citrus version (no, really). The difference between the both is that that one comes in a pink tube and this one comes in a white. That one has a zesty scent and this one doesn’t. This one contains shea butter and nut oil extracts and the other doesn’t.

The product comes in a twist-off tube which is alright, I suppose, considering that the product in there is pretty much corrosive.

The main instructions were to layer on the product on the area that you’d like hair to be removed – roughly 1-3mm will do, with te spatula provided in the box. But before that, please do a patch test* on your skin.

*What is a Patch Test’?:
A test on a small area of skin. Apply a small amount of product on a small area of the skin and leave on for about 10 minutes to test for a bad reaction.

If your skin looks fine, wash off the area you patch tested and you’re good to use the product. If not, wash the product off immediately and do not use the product at all.

I found the spatula kind of cute because it’s pink. And oh yes, I bought this product because it looked pretty on the shelf. /bricked.

Leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then wipe off with a tissue.

I took the liberty of doing a nice before and after photograph for you to laugh at.

It really is the same arm. I see you laughing already. Haha, it’s okay, I’m laughing with you. XD At least my swatches won’t be hairy anymore.

The Smell:
Was horrible. Then again, almost all depilation creams smell like this it made my toilet stink up for the duration I had the cream on but after washing it off, it was fine. It also didn’t leave a lingering smell on my skin, which was good.

The Wipe-off:
Didn’t actually work because my hairs were too long, I guess. I had to use the spatula to scrape off the cream and most of the hairs came out then. I later used tissues to wipe my skin down gently and washed it with warm water just to get the chemicals off.

The result:
Was moderately desirable because I had a slight reaction in the form of a slight bump and some redness, which is very normal. Most of the longer hairs came out but there were remnants of little stubbles that had to be rubbed off gently in a circular motion under water. This is normal though, because with all depilating creams, it’s not a 100% success rate sort of thing and I’m a very very picky person. 🙂

My main peeve was how dry my skin felt after using the cream… My Veet one never used to give me trouble, but then again, that was maybe 6-7 years ago (yeah, I switched to plain old waxing after that but have been too lazy to go for another waxing session recently)

This tube did come with a sample sized sachet of their “after-shave” cream though which was the BEST thing about this product. It wasn’t quite a cream actually… It felt more like my RMK Makeup Base – a little watery and almost fruity smelling. My skin felt so much better after applying that. And the sample was a generous size too. 😀 I squeezed it all out into two five gram jars. I’m really pleased.

Depending on the growth rate of your hair, the effects of this type of hair removal is supposed to give you nice smooth skin for up to seven days but I’ve got a sinking feeling that I’m going to have little hairs by Sunday T_T

Overall:
If you’re in a hurry and haven’t got time to hit your waxing place,  then this would probably work for you.

Pretty much all the creams are the same, to be entirely honest. But at 18.90 SGD, it comes in a pretty tube so you’ll get to look at a nice bottle while you remove those pesky hairs.

I can’t be bothered to use these on my legs though, so I’m popping by Strip today -laughing-

mannn.. i gotta give you the thumbs up for being so open and daring to show off your hairy arms babe!
seriously! i HATE having all these unwanted hair all over the wrong places!
i need thicker hair on my scalp! not on the body!!!

i wanted to try this out but i figured it may just be like Veet – harsh chemical smelling and drying + all that itchiness and redness.
so i begged my mom to get me a phillips epilator when i was… sec 2 or 3.
    i’m really glad that i did actually…
especially when i’m sooooo chicken when it comes to waxing. i heard it hurts but gets better with time.

thing is… i’m really shy to go in by myself so i need like a girlfriend with me.
another thing that turns me off? it’s expensive! though of coz… regrowth, i heard, is finer each time.
    is that true babe?

      Hey Bones!!!
-laughing- I know right?! I swear, it was really getting to me and XD totally, babe!

I actually tried an epilator out before but it truly was too painful for me… T_T So I switched to waxing…
And haha, don’t worry about it, darling! It’ll hurt just once, so like, snap and it’ll be over? It’s something like plucking but it’ll only hurt once. 😀

      And >__<

      • bones said, on January 20, 2011 at 12:19 pm

        you know what’s weird?
epilating is exactly like waxing. it hurts in the beginning but after that you get used to it! XD

        XD Really man?!
        >_< Garh, I think it's more of a psychological thing for me, personally… XD it's the thought of like, plucking the hairs out one by one by one… T_T

      • bones said, on January 21, 2011 at 2:10 pm

        it’s sort of like that…? i guess?
but really, with time it gets more and more comfortable.

come to think of it, i don’t think i’ll scream if i were to be on the waxing table. LOL!

      • Jae said, on January 22, 2011 at 9:22 am

:3 haha, don’t worry about screaming during the waxing session babe!
Because it’s so quick, there’s very little time to react in the first place. XD I remember my first time – wth, I just held my breath and every tug of the waxing strip was just one breath in. -laughing- I swear, I must have looked super constipated!

      • bones said, on January 22, 2011 at 12:58 pm

        HAHAHAHAHA!!
it’s always the first experience that makes you cringe when you think back about it coz it’s so damn hilarious!

      • Jae said, on January 23, 2011 at 8:52 am

        XD I know right?!
I swear, the lady was laughing at me =_=|||

      • bones said, on January 23, 2011 at 2:26 pm

hmmmm… well look on the bright side; at least you didn’t scream out “HOLY MAMA COW!”, right? XD

      • Jae said, on January 24, 2011 at 9:16 am

-laughing- That would be quite disturbing, love!
Thankfully, no! XDDD I think the lady would totally have bailed on me halfway through the session man XD

hi jae i`m a japanese and 12 yrs old i will ask something what are the advantages of this epilat?

      • Jae said, on August 29, 2011 at 9:23 am

        Hey dearie!!!
Oh gosh, you might want to try a shaver instead for your age, love… ^^||| Consider that option? 🙂

      • Yanna said, on September 4, 2011 at 3:04 pm

Did you try yours? What is the result in your hair is it thicker and curly?

      • Jae said, on September 13, 2011 at 8:55 pm

        Hey Yanna!
Yes, I did try mine and nope, haha, it’s actually pretty much the same as it was when I let it grow out darling…
The stubble that we usually face is cause our hairs are growing out and shorter hairs tend to feel a little sharper and stiffer! 😀 Hope this helps you dearie!

I totally agree with bones, but that’s the only way you can show us if it works or if it doesn’t. I’ll stick to my methods, but this one is definitely a cute way to remove hair!

    • Jae said, on January 20, 2011 at 9:16 am

      XD yup!
And maaaaan, I so need to sign a package with STRIP! >_<

  3. jodie said, on January 19, 2011 at 5:45 pm

I PREFER THOSE STRIPS HAHAHAHAHA ESPECIALLY WHEN IM SUPER HAIRY WHEN I DO THE STRIP THING ON JUST ONE PART IT LOOKS HORRIBLE!!
i used veet and it was so badass stinky ever since then i didnt bother doing anything to my hair on my armpits.. thank goodness my sis is in sgt and i can use her epilator and shaver AHHAHA

the bottle is so cute and pretty tho *_* but heck!!! they all stink!! 😦

    • Jae said, on January 20, 2011 at 9:42 am

      XDDD Those waxing strips right?!
And mannnn, I use my shaver for the underarm area everyday (otherwise I can’t stand it) and -laughing- yes, they all do smell bad! T_T
I wish they’d come up with something better man! Darn!

      • jodie said, on January 20, 2011 at 12:25 pm

Oh well.. i'm sure they'll come up with something soon, or we will ahahah

      • Jae said, on January 21, 2011 at 9:37 am

XD I’ve always been scared of waxing strips because I don’t know when to pull it off? XDDD
And ahhhh well, sooner or later, dear, soon or later! 😀

  4. chai said, on January 20, 2011 at 12:24 pm

How long does the result last for?
It’s so annoying to have to shave/exfoliate every 2 weeks or so -_-“.
I’m too scared to wax and too darn lazy hehe ><
Shaving is painless and fast, but it seems like my hair grows faster!
    ~

    • Jae said, on January 21, 2011 at 9:24 am

      Hey Chai!
Well, for me, the hairs have already started to grow back but from far, it’s quite hard to see the stubble?
I’m expecting to have to do this again next Monday cause I’m quite sure it’d be quite visible by then >_< My hair regrowth rate for my arms is insane so XD
And haha, I know right?! I wanted to shave it all off but because it only takes away the surface hairs, it grows right back over the next few days! T_T
