NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss [Salsa] VS Melliesh 01 [Strawberry Milk] [[REVIEW]]

Posted in Cherryculture, MELLIESH, NYX by Jae on February 2, 2011

So you and I both know how hard it is sometimes to get hold of items from Japan what with the yen’s fluctuations and waiting time for sprees.

You may have noticed that I’ve made it my personal mission to make sure you get comparison swatches as often as possible. -winks-

Today’s a comparison between NYX’s Mega Shine Lip Gloss and Melliesh 01 (Strawberry Milk)!

I hate to say this but… They’re an awesome couple.

Notice how NYX’s Salsa is just that touch lighter pink? I thought I’d hit jackpot on this one but I was wrong because while they look similar in the tube, here were distinct differences in terms of the formula and consistency.

NYX’s Salsa had a very strong, almost medicinal taste that lasted for a while before fading off while Melliesh gave off barely any scent at all. If you have a sensitive nose, NYX would probably turn you right off.

There was a rather strong taste as well but Melliesh, as always, was tasteless.

In terms of consistency, NYX had a runnier texture as compared to Melliesh, which was a lot stickier.

As for the colour, you’d be able to see pretty clearly that while NYX’s Salsa contains little bits of glitter, Melliesh has none at all.

This shows up rather distinctively on lip swatches, giving the illusion that NYX’s Salsa is a lot more milky than it really is.

Can I also say that it feels like NYX give a lot more product than Melliesh? Because it’s true, but I do have to complain about NYX’s lipgloss wand being too long and tough to handle.

So is it a dupe?
Close, but nope. Salsa is a lot pinker as compared to Melliesh 01.

Salsa’s almost like a soft baby pink while Melliesh is very much more natural pink.

You said they’re a good couple?
Yes, if you like Melliesh 01 but think that it’s not pink enough, you can use NYX’s Salsa over it because the effect is incredibly pretty.

Where can I buy NYX?
Online at Cherryculture.com

What’s up with your lip swatch? o.O
-laughing- I figured it would be a better comparison by putting the glosses on the same lip so it’ll be a fairer test! The lip in the middle is NYX’s Lip Liner!

Hope you like my new way of comparison swatching dear!

Hi jae thanks for another informative review. You have definitely got me interested in melliesh glosses. Unfortunately i’m in the US and they don’t carry melliesh here. Do you have any sites you can recommend with reasonable prices? Thanks!

      Hey Rosely!
It’s my pleasure! And with the US, the prices are usually higher but if you don’t mind, http://apopofkawaii.com is a US based site that carries the line…
Alternatively, you could order it from http://labellepiece.com! La Belle Piece is a Singapore based site so you may find that the prices are a little lower but you will have to factor in international shipping though >_< I hope this helps you dearie!
